Perhaps you've dreamed about your wedding since you were a little girl or maybe you haven't given it much thought until you met Mr. Wonderful. It could be that your first instinct was to elope but he (or your family) wants a traditional wedding. Whatever the reasons, you find yourself planning a huge milestone event and you're not sure where to begin. Or you've already begun to plan but find that you're overwhelmed and panicking.
Breathe.
The first thing you need to figure out is what kind of bride you are. These three categories below are extreme descriptions and you'll probably fall in between one or two but for the sake of argument, pick one that sounds most like you (and be honest with yourself).
- The A to Z Bride is eager to make every decision and research every vendor. She is very definite about her ideas and doesn't want anyone (including her fianc?) to disagree or meddle.
- The Busy Bride wants to make the decisions but doesn't have the time to do it all herself. She has very definite ideas but is open to opinions and help from others.
- The Absentee Bride would be perfectly happy if someone else planned the entire wedding and all she had to do was show up. She really just wants to elope.
Okay. Now that you know what kind of bride you are, tell everyone! And we mean everyone who is involved in your wedding, from your fianc? to your mom (and his mom) to your best friend and bridesmaids. Everyone on your support team MUST know how you feel about planning your wedding AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PROCESS. For advice on how to tackle these tough conversations, click here.
